It has become a fact that the diet of mainstream society often provides too much of the wrong things, and too little of the right things to keep our bodies functioning properly.
Eating a well-balanced and comprehensive diet is not only important for weight loss, but also important for keeping your body healthy and properly functioning.
Food is literally the fuel for your body, and our poor dietary habits of fueling the body with toxins leads to a number of problems including:
- Increased inflammation in the body.
- Reducing the body’s ability to heal itself.
- Affecting the brain’s ability to operate optimally.

On a daily basis we are inundated with things that introduce toxins into our body, from the food that we consume, to the air we breathe, to the chemicals in our water. In some cases, such as candidiasis or obesity, our body even creates its own toxins.
Detoxification is a process that occurs in our body naturally, but if there is an excess of toxins, our body does not have the capacity to process and dispose of all of the toxins at the rate at which it was ingested.
The natural process of eliminating toxins is a two-step process that takes place mostly in the liver. In the first phase, enzymes break down the toxins into less complex forms called “intermediate compounds”. After this first phase some toxins can be eliminated, but others need to be broken down further.
The stubborn toxins that were not eliminated in the first phase are then passed along one of six detoxification pathways to break down into less complex forms, and are finally attached to a certain type of protein which guides the toxins out of the body in the form of urine or feces.
During the natural process of detoxification, your body produces extremely potent toxins which are normally bound and eliminated. However, if your liver is not functioning to its full potential (due to stress, illness, or other factors), these toxins continue to remain in your body, and can seriously affect your ability to heal yourself.

Inflammation is our body’s defensive reaction to injury or illness (such as when you catch a flu). It is a protective measure designed to provide increased sustenance and immunity to the areas of our body that are vulnerable.
Although a well-intentioned action, inflammation can also be harmful to the body. Inflammation is now thought to play a role in pathological conditions ranging from anemia and allergy, to coronary heart disease, diabetes, dementia, psoriasis, and even stroke. From inflamed gums that may contribute to cardiovascular disease, to playing a crucial role in fanning the flames of cancer cell growth, inflammation has been implicated in many more diseases than was previously believed.
Certain dietary habits encourage inflammation. In our society we consume large amounts of omega-6 fatty acids which are found in foods such as margarine, vegetable shortening, and all partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Omega 6- fatty acids promote inflammation.
Poor quality carbohydrates also encourage inflammation because the combination of the sugars found in these foods combined with proteins create inflammatory by-products called Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). Some foods that produce large amounts of AGEs are:
- White potatoes
- Chips and other snack foods
- Sweetened drinks
- Refined and processed foods
- Fast foods and other foods made with high fructose corn syrup
Although we are trained to believe that all protein is good, certain proteins contain more inflammatory fats than others. Protein sources such as meats and poultry contain more inflammatory fats than vegetable protein sources.
While we consume many of the foods that encourage inflammation, we also consume too little of the foods that decrease inflammation. Foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids such as oily fish, walnuts, flax, and hemp provide the body with nutrients that have an anti-inflammatory affect.
Eating good quality carbohydrates that keep your blood sugar low and stable will help to keep the production of AGEs low. These foods include:
- Whole grains
- Winter squashes and other vegetables
- Temperate fruits such as berries, cherries, apples, and pears instead of tropical fruits such as bananas, pineapple, mango, and papaya
Quality protein sources include the vegetable proteins found in whole grains, seeds, and nuts, as well as the proteins found in fish. With fish, it is even better to eat the oily fishes that also contain good amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids, such as wild Alaskan salmon, sardines, herring, and black cod.
Unfortunately in the medical world, chronic inflammation is not often considered as a major relation to illness, but there is in fact significant evidence that addressing chronic inflammation will alleviate and even eliminate several diseases.

While osteoporosis is an illness that usually affects people in their later years, preventing osteoporosis by building and maintaining optimal bone mass is something that we can address from adolescence.
To maintain optimal bone health, it is important to start by growing healthy bones since the more bone mass you have in your youth, the better prepared you are against losing bone mass as you age.
Nurturing healthy habits from youth includes avoiding smoking, which seriously affects the development of bone mass. In addition, good nutrition is key to developing healthy bones; like all things that grow, bones also need enough good food and the right nutrients to reach their maximum health.
When we think of what we usually hear about having healthy bones, we immediately think of drinking milk, or taking another similar conventional sources of calcium. This is because we are taught that healthy bones needs lots of calcium, when in fact they need a specific type of calcium. While conventional calcium sources do slow down the loss of bone mass, they do not stop or reverse the process of loss of bone mass.
Our bones need calcium with a combination of other minerals in order to actually stop or reverse bone deterioration. This perfect combination can be found in the supplement Ossein microcrystalline hydroxyapatitie complex (MCHC).
In addition to calcium, the body needs enough vitamin D, Magnesium, Menatetrenone, and Strontium to maintain optimal bone health. These nutrients can be taken in the form of supplements.

Eating should be an enjoyable activity and it is important to enjoy the foods you eat so that you can sustain your eating habits.
Eating the right foods is only half of being fit. Making long-term changes to your body includes increasing your metabolism through exercise. Trying quick weight loss techniques usually means that your body is losing more muscle that fat, which in turn lowers your metabolism. Building muscle in your body through exercise raises your body’s resting metabolic rate (RMR) which is the rate at which your body burns calories at rest.
